Patient Registrar – Mercy Health Physicians - Howland Primary Care

Job Summary:

The Patient Registrar is the first point of contact for our patients and community, responsible for processing patient registration, verifying demographics, obtaining insurance cards, and patient identification. Key responsibilities include scheduling appointments, transcribing orders, explaining financial options to patients, and updating medical records accurately and efficiently.

Essential Functions:

• Provide excellent communication and customer service by greeting patients and the community respectfully.
• Process admission paperwork and perform basic insurance verification, ensuring accurate patient identity for billing purposes.
• Answer internal and external calls in a friendly and helpful manner.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
• Maintain patient flow and inform supervisors of any issues immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School Degree or GED.

Experience:

• Prior experience in patient registration or healthcare is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9 coding is preferred but not required.

Skills & Abilities:

• Problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, typing at 40 WPM, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional engagement with staff and patients.
• Basic math skills.
