Registrar Departmental Assistant – Queens Campus
Job Description:
This position reports to the University Registrar and deals with sensitive student information; it requires not only attention to detail and academic policies but also integrity and respec t for the confidentiality of the office, the University, and outside agencies . Th is position also requires using contemporary technology effectively, strong interpersonal skills, and working well with others. As is the case with all other positions in the office, the Departmental Assistant will have to work outside of normally scheduled hours as needed.
Other essential details include:
Be responsible for managing the attendance verification process each semester to comply with Federal Regulations.
Correspond with government officials, city agencies, and foreign consulates regarding student enrollment and academic history.
Handle the daily employment and student verification processing via the National Student Clearinghouse.
Manage the processing and release of academic transcripts—both electronic (Parchment) and mailed—along with archival academic records.
Support academic departments with course scheduling using the CourseDog platform in coordination with department Chairs and Deans.
Provide support for Final Exam scheduling each semester.
Process authentication of diplomas and transcripts as requested .
Maintain and update office procedures.
Serve as backup for the transcript email response team
Conduct daily reviews of statistical data to support university operations and reporting needs.
Support and backup our front-facing customer support area.
Assist wit h ad hoc registration for cohorts a nd special programs.
Work directly with the Assistant, Associate, and/or University R egistrar on high-level projec ts.
Requirements:
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly salary for this position is $43,500 . St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
