Job summary

Iowa Veterinary Specialties in Des Moines is hiring for multiple overnight full-time technician positions. This AAHA-accredited, 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital partners with ISU College of Veterinary Medicine, offering a fast-paced environment and access to advanced diagnostics.

You will triage emergencies, monitor patients, assist with anesthesia, collect samples, and work with a team of emergency vets, boarded surgeons, and skilled technicians.

Qualifications

• Registered Veterinary Technician credential required.
• At least 3 years of experience as a veterinary technician.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming emergency cases.
• Obtain, evaluate and monitor patient vitals for both trauma and hospitalized patients.
• Collect and prep samples; perform in-house diagnostic laboratory testing.
• Perform catheterization, phlebotomy and different types of imaging.
• Induce, monitor and recover patients under anesthesia.
• Prepare and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.

About Us:

Iowa Veterinary Specialties (IVS) is a fast-paced, AAHA-accredited, and referral practice in Des Moines, Iowa. Owned and affiliated with the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and operational for over 40 years, we provide 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary care. Our dedicated team includes emergency veterinarians, boarded specialty surgeons and skilled veterinary technicians & assistants.

Position Overview:

The hourly wage based on experience and knowledge. You would be using all facets of your technical & nursing skills in a state-of-the-art small animal hospital, practicing the highest quality of medicine. You would be working closely with experienced and knowledgeable emergency doctors, boarded specialty surgeons, and skilled veterinary technicians & assistants.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform catherization, phlebotomy and different types of imaging
