Job summary

Wooster Animal Clinic in Northeastern Ohio is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced hospital. You’ll perform lab work, imaging, anesthesia, and nursing care, while communicating plans to clients and supporting ongoing training in a team of doctors and staff.

The ideal candidate has an active RVT license and at least 1 year of experience, with a commitment to animal welfare and excellent client service in a high-quality practice.

Qualifications

  • Registered Veterinary Technician with an active license is required.
  • 1+ year of professional veterinary experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong client communication and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

  • Restrain animals and triage incoming patients.
  • Collect and analyze lab samples and perform diagnostic imaging.
  • Provide nursing care to medical and hospitalized cases.
  • Assist in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring.
  • Communicate treatment plans clearly to clients.

Our hospital is a well-established, fast-paced and high quality 2.5-doctor small animal practice in Northeastern Ohio. We are proud to have provided top-quality pet care for over 50 years now, and our online reviews boast about our friendly and caring approach.

Wooster Animal Clinic strives to offer the most complete pet care coupled with a technologically advanced facility. We offer many services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients, which include (but are not limited to!) wellness and geriatric care, full-body digital radiography, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, endoscopy, complex dentistry with digital radiography, reproductive services, general and advanced surgery (to include orthopedics), and more!

We’re really proud of the amazing team we’ve built here, and today our crew includes three doctors, three technicians, and more than ten support staff members. We're looking to add another Registered Veterinary Technician to our squad!

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications
  • A Registered Veterinary Technician with an active license required, 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Availability to work some Saturdays
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
