Job summary

Southgate Veterinary Clinic in Bellefontaine, OH, is seeking a licensed RVT to join our dedicated team. You will provide nursing care, assist in anesthesia, manage labs and radiography, and communicate treatment plans with clients to ensure compassionate, high-quality care for pets and their families.

Qualifications

  • Active Ohio RVT license is required.
  • 1+ year professional veterinary experience preferred.
  • Punctual and reliable with scheduled shifts.
  • Willingness to work some Saturdays.
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations.
  • Expertise in safe, low-stress animal restraint techniques.
  • Proficiency in blood, urine, fecal, and skin sample collection.
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and anesthesia monitoring; dental radiography a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in triage, monitoring, and nursing care of patients.
  • Explain treatment plans and options to clients clearly.
  • Prepare for surgical procedures and assist with anesthesia and monitoring.
  • Perform radiography positioning and image capture, including dental radiographs.
  • Maintain medical records and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Restrain animals safely using low-stress techniques.
  • Collaborate with team to ensure smooth hospital operations.
  • Support safety and cleanliness, and follow protocols.

Southgate Veterinary Clinic

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

We’re Looking For:
  • ARegistered Veterinary Technician with an active license in Ohio required
  • 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Availability to work some Saturdays shifts
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
