Job summary

Mission Pet Health in Washington, DC seeks a Registered Veterinary Technician to provide clinical care, client education, and essential laboratory work. The role encompasses comprehensive nursing duties and imaging support to ensure high standards of animal welfare.

You will perform hematology, cytology, urinalysis, microbiology, and blood chemistry analyses, along with anesthesia monitoring and dental prophylaxis.

Qualifications

• CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT certification or licensure required; DC transfer supported.
• Associates degree in Veterinary Technology required.

Responsibilities

• Professional client communication and education, obtaining medical histories and symptoms.
• Laboratory procedures: hematology, cytology, urinalysis, microbiology, blood chemistry, fecals.
• Diagnostic imaging and safety protocol implementation for staff.
• Nursing duties: restraining patients, administering PO/IV/SUBQ meds, bandages, IV catheter placement, venipuncture, surgery prep, anaesthesia monitoring.
• Proficient in dental prophylaxis.

Registered Veterinary Technician Responsibilties:

• Professional client communication and education obtaining medical histories and symptoms
• Laboratory procedures including but not limited to: hematology, cytology, urinalysis, microbiology, blood chemistry, and fecals
• Diagnostic imaging and implementing safety protocols of fellow staff members
• Nursing skills including: restraining patients, administering medications PO/IV/SUBQ/IM, applying and maintaining bandages, proficient IV catheter placement and venipuncture, surgery prep, anaesthesia monitoring
• Proficient in dental prophylaxis

Registered Veterinary Technician Qualifications:

• Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) or the ability to transfer credentials from state to state. (SVP will pay for a transfer / additional state licensing for DC if applicable).
• Associates degree in Veterinary Technology

• Pay range of $28-$35+/hour
• $2000 Sign-On Bonus
