Animal Medical Center San Rafael is seeking an experienced Lead Veterinary Assistant to join our supportive team. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and passionate about pets and their families.

We offer a competitive hourly pay range of $22.00–$28.00 per hour, with a $250 sign-on bonus, CE support, annual uniform allowance, professional license reimbursement, and flexible scheduling (8-hour shifts, Monday–Saturday).

Qualifications

• 3+ years clinical experience as a veterinary assistant or receptionist.
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
• Passion for working with animals and their owners.
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories.
• Perform basic exam procedures.
• Venipuncture (cephalic, saphenous, jugular).
• Digital radiology positioning.
• Monitor general anesthesia and assist surgeries.
• Laboratory skills including IDEXX in-house lab.
• Excellent client communication/education.
• Adaptable to working with doctors and team.

Job description

Animal Medical Center San Rafael is currently looking to hire an experienced Lead Veterinary Assistant to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves pets and being part of a fun, supportive team.

The hourly pay range for this position starts at $22.00 - $28.00 per hour; this varies depending on experience, education, certifications, and location.

• Additional $250.00 sign-on bonus!
• Continuing Education (CE) support
• Annual Uniform allowance
• Professional License reimbursement
• Flexible scheduling - 8 hour shift length (Monday - Saturday)

Who You Are:

• 3+ years clinical experience as a veterinary assistant or receptionist
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
• Passion for working with animals and their owners
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
• Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
• Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
• Perform basic exam procedures
• Skilled in venipuncture (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
• Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
• Comfortable with monitoring general anesthesia and surgical assistance preferred
• Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); IDEXX in-house laboratory
• Excellent client communication/education
• Adaptable to working well with current doctors and team members
