Mission Animal Hospital in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Thrive Pet Healthcare team. We offer both full-time and part-time roles with an hourly pay range of $30-$34, negotiable based on credentials and experience; the role supports veterinarians, maintains records, and helps educate clients.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician.
  • Current California RVT license required.
  • Experience with dental procedures preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Flexible schedule and reliable team player.

Responsibilities

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality care, educate clients.
  • Assist veterinarians and medical team to maximize productivity and patient flow.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures per state act for credentialed technicians.
  • Explain doctor recommendations and Thrive Membership options to clients.
  • Maintain medical records with practice systems.
  • Obtain health history from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques; keep areas clean and organized.
  • Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay range from $30 - $34 /hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

About You
Role Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • With each hospital function,assistveterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity andmaintainpositive patient flow.
  • Assistwith surgeries and proceduresin accordance withyour state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance onThrive Membershipoptions, medications, andadditionaltreatments.
  • Assistinmaintainingrelevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients andmaintainmedical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
Experience & Skills Requirements
  • Minimum of 2-years of experience as a Veterinary Technician
  • Experience in dental procedures is strongly preferred
  • Current California Veterinary Technician license (RVT) required
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to explain doctor recommendations and treatment plans
  • Fleixible schedule availability
  • Self-motivated and strong organizational skills
  • Collaborative team player with a positive attitude
