Job summary

Canyon Creek Pet Hospital in San Jose, CA is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join a dedicated veterinary team. This full-time role involves hands-on surgery, dentistry, radiology, and anesthesia, with a typical Monday–Friday schedule and no weekend shifts.

Ideal candidates hold a California RVT license with 1+ years of clinical RVT experience or strong veterinary assistant background. You will work closely with veterinarians to deliver top-quality medical and surgical care

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license in California.
  • 1+ years of clinical RVT experience preferred; newly licensed RVTs with strong veterinary assistant experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in surgery assistance, anesthesia monitoring and intubation, dentals and radiography, venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with and support soft tissue surgeries, including patient prep and recovery.
  • Provide skilled nursing care for hospitalized and outpatient patients.
  • Perform and assist with dental procedures, including dental radiographs.
  • Obtain high-quality digital radiographs.
  • Perform venipunctures, IV catheter placement, and laboratory sample collection.
  • Assist with cystocentesis procedures.
  • Monitor patients under anesthesia, including intubation and recovery monitoring.
  • Deliver exceptional client communication and education.

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Canyon Creek Pet Hospital

San Jose, California

Position Highlights
  • Full-time, Monday-Friday schedule
  • Expected starting range of $28 - $32 per hour, based on experience
  • No weekends
  • Hands-on surgery, dental, radiology, and anesthesia experience

Schedule (Full-Time): Monday-Friday. Hospital hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with staff shifts typically ranging from 8:15 AM to 5:30 PM.

Compensation is negotiable based on experience and credentials, with an expected starting range of $28 - $32/ hour. The final compensation will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

About You

In this role, you’ll work alongside veterinarians and support staff to deliver excellent medical and surgical care while creating a positive, professional client experience. This position is ideal for an RVT who enjoys staying clinically engaged and fully utilizing their skill set.

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Assist with and support soft tissue surgeries, including patient prep and recovery

Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license in California
