Job summary

Alliance Animal Health is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. You will provide clinical care, assist in surgery, and ensure accurate client communication. This role demands a minimum of 1 year of experience, a strong work ethic, and weekend availability.

Qualifications

  • Must be a registered veterinary technician with at least 1 year of experience.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Punctual and ready to work; some Saturday availability.
  • Excellent customer service and precise communication.
  • Ability to interpret medical records and client history.
  • Knowledge of preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow.
  • Ability to restrain pets safely and with low stress.
  • Proficiency in collecting samples (blood, urine, feces, skin).
  • Proficiency in setting up and processing lab samples.
  • Proficiency in positioning and taking radiographs; dental radiographs a plus.
  • Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring.
  • Self-starter eager to advance knowledge.
  • Receptive to constructive feedback to maintain efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Restrain animals safely and compassionately.
  • Triage incoming patients.
  • Collect and analyze lab samples.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging.
  • Provide nursing care and manage hospitalized cases.
  • Administer medications.
  • Communicate treatment plans with clients.
  • Assist in surgical preparation and procedures.
  • Manage anesthesia.

Job description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Animal restraint
  • triage of incoming patients
  • collection and analysis of lab samples
  • diagnostic imaging
  • management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
  • administration of medications
  • effective communication of treatment plans with clients
  • surgical preparation and assistance
  • and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises.

May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

  • Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests
  • Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs, positioning for dental radiographs are a plus
  • Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
  • A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one's knowledge and skillset
  • Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency
