Job summary

Lake City Animal Health & Wellness Center is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician licensed in Indiana. The role involves triage, lab work, diagnostic imaging, anesthesia management, and nursing care for medical or hospitalized patients.

Candidates should have strong client communication and medical record management skills, with knowledge of veterinary procedures and hospital operations. Training and ongoing development opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active Indiana RVT license.
• 2+ years veterinary technician experience preferred but not required.
• Excellent client communication and medical record management skills required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations.

Responsibilities

• Restraint of patients in a stress-minimized manner.
• Triage incoming patients and collect/analyze lab specimens.
• Perform diagnostic imaging and assist in surgical preparation and anesthesia management.
• Deliver clear treatment plans to clients and staff; ensure accurate medical records.
• Provide nursing care for medical and hospitalized patients and monitor progress.

Job Description

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

• A Registered Veterinary Technician with an active license in IN required, 2+ year professional experience preferred but not required.
• Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts.
• Availability to work some Saturday morning shifts.
• Excellent client communication and medical record management skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations.
• Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques.
• Previous professional experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring.
• Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens.
• Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus.
• Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards.
