Qualifications

• 3+ years of veterinary technician experience.
• Active and good-standing Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in the state of Iowa.
• Proficiency in patient assessment, nursing care, anesthesia induction/monitoring/recovery, surgical assistance, dental prophylaxis and radiography, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, radiology safety, medication administration, in-house diagnostics, medical record documentation, safe patient handling, client education, multitasking in a fast-paced hospital.

Responsibilities

• Support efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows.
• Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery.
• Assist in surgery.

Frey Pet Hospital is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team and support both outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry.

We are seeking a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment - balancing exam room care, client communication, and hands-on procedural support. We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care.

In this position, you will play a key role in both outpatient and procedural workflows, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care throughout the patient visit.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
• Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
• Assisting in surgery
• Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
• Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
• Identifying patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital
• Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service

Schedule and compensation:

Compensation: $18-$23 per hour, for each hour worked

This is a flexible full-time or part-time position, with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday-Friday. Saturdays are 7am-12p on rotation (every other Saturday required).
