Advocate Health seeks a Respiratory Care leader to coordinate clinical activities and supervise a cardiopulmonary team on site. You will ensure care quality per physician orders, lead staff orientation, and manage supplies and equipment. The role requires RRT certification and state licensure, with a Bachelor’s preferred.

Expected to uphold JCAHO standards, participate in departmental goal setting, and provide direct patient care as needed in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.
• RRT credentialed by NBRC.
• Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (state requirement).
• Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy (min 2 years in a dept) or RRT with 5 years experience; Bachelor's preferred.
• BLS for healthcare providers per American Heart Association; advanced certificates per policy.

Essential Functions

• Coordinates and Supervises clinical activities of the cardiopulmonary staff.
• Assures the appropriate quality of care is administered as designated by physician orders or protocol.
• Conducts orientation for new employees and coordinates continual education of staff.
• Maintains & evaluates supplies and equipment.
• Assures that JCAHO standards and organization clinical policies are being followed.
• Assists in the development and implementation of departmental goals.
• Provides direct patient care as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Position requires repetitive physical activity with considerable walking and standing.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Work requires the ability to move patients of all age groups and equipment.
• May be exposed to odors, low lighting, and crowded working conditions. Must have intact sense of sight, hearing, smell and touch.

Education, Experience and Certifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care required. Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care required.
• Currently licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner for the state of applicable state required. Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy with a minimum of two years in a Respiratory Care Department or a RRT equivalent with a minimum of five years in a Respiratory Care Department required. Working knowledge of all phases of Respiratory Care technology pertinent to this position. Bachelor's degree preferred.
