Job Summary

Provides respiratory care to patients as assigned by supervisors and given on the physician's order for both in-house and outpatient care.

Responsibilities

1. Medication Administration: Responsible for the safe and effective administration of medically prescribed medications, knowing their indications and contraindications.
   • Assures proper physician order before administration.
   • Demonstrates proper procedures for procurement and reconciliation of respiratory medications.
   • Completes Respiratory Care Patient Assessments before treating patients (except in emergencies).
2. Therapeutic Modalities: Follows indications and contraindications, policies, and procedures for therapies like IPPB, IS, HHN, CPAP & BiPAP, Heliox.
   • Ensures proper physician order before treatment.
   • Discontinues treatment if adverse or contraindicating conditions are noted, documenting and notifying relevant staff.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Care.
• Two years of acute care experience preferred.
• Licenses/Registrations: Respiratory Therapist License, Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC).
• Skills: ACLS, BLS certifications; instructor certifications preferred.

Schedule

Day shift, 3 12-hour shifts, up to every other weekend.
