St. David's Round Rock Medical Center is seeking a PRN Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to support a range of care settings.

You will provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care, manage ventilation and airway support, and collaborate with physicians and nurses to deliver high-quality patient care. The role requires NBRC-RRT and state certifications, an associate degree, and completion of ACLS and BLS within defined timelines.

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• NBRC-RRT certification (Registered Respiratory Therapist).
• RRT/RCP-State certification as Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner.
• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assess respiratory status by focused exams, interpret breath sounds and airway patency to determine need for interventions.
• Deliver evidence-based therapy: oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance, and other treatments across care settings.
• Manage ventilation and airways: assist with artificial airways, initiate/adjust invasive and noninvasive ventilation, monitor responses and emergencies.
• Educate patients and families, be a clinical resource, partner with physicians/nurses, and assist with newborn stabilization when needed.
• Maintain equipment and safety: set up/clean respiratory equipment, ensure readiness, transport ventilated patients, follow infection prevention standards.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Respiratory Therapist, you’ll play an essential role in guiding patients through both routine care and critical moments. Your role will include:

• Assessing respiratory status by performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, and determining the need for respiratory interventions.
• Delivering evidence-based therapy by providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings.
• Managing ventilation and airways by assisting with artificial airway placement, initiating and adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation, monitoring patient responses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies.
• Supporting patients and the care team by educating patients and families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed.
• Maintaining equipment and safety by setting up, operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensuring readiness and preventive maintenance; transporting ventilated patients safely; and following all infection-prevention standards.

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist
• (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner
• Associate Degree
