The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) works under physician direction and under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Clinical Team Manager. The RRT is a professional who works within the limits of their license and credentials, adhering to institutional and departmental policies, procedures, and standards. The RRT is required to provide quality patient care, promote a healthy work environment, and project a positive image for the UAMS Medical Center.Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care by date of hire.

• Arkansas Licensed Respiratory Therapy Practitioner (LRCP) by date of hire.

• Must pass National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) RRT Credentialing Examination by date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care

• Experience as a UAMS Respiratory Care Intern

• ACLS, NRP, Basic Life Support (BLS)

Responsibilities:

• Performs routine respiratory care procedures including, but not limited to: updrafts, metered dose inhalers (MDI), chest physiotherapy (CPT), arterial blood gases (ABG), incentive spirometry, intrapulmonary percussive ventilation (IPV), patient education, mechanical ventilator setup and management.

• Assists in codes and rapid responses.

• Enters patient treatment notes in e-chart system and/or places documentation in patient charts

• Calls for, or physically moves, equipment and medical supplies needed into the assigned work areas

• Interacts with, and assists, the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.

• Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.

• Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines.

• Assists internal and external stakeholders, as needed, with exceptional customer service.
