Position Overview

As a Level I Respiratory Therapist , you will provide essential respiratory care to a diverse patient group in varying states of health. Your work will span adult ICUs , general units, and pediatric care. The role requires responsiveness in emergency situations , and the ability to stand for extended periods while delivering direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care for ICU and general unit patients, including those with cystic fibrosis and pediatric patients.

• Emergent Response: Quickly respond to emergency situations and perform critical interventions.

• Charge Role & ED Work: May be required to take on Charge duties and work in the Emergency Department (ED) once proficiencies are completed.

• Proficiency Requirements: Must maintain proficiencies in both adult ICU care and general units. New hires are expected to complete proficiency requirements within one year.

• Physical Demands: Standing for most of the shift and performing repetitive movements is required.

Qualifications

• Licensing: Must be licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Vermont before starting.

• Education: Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care program.

• Certification: Must be NBRC-certified (Registered Respiratory Therapist) within one year of hire.

• Current Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or related field.
