Position Overview
As a Level I Respiratory Therapist , you will provide essential respiratory care to a diverse patient group in varying states of health. Your work will span adult ICUs , general units, and pediatric care. The role requires responsiveness in emergency situations , and the ability to stand for extended periods while delivering direct patient care.
Patient Care: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care for ICU and general unit patients, including those with cystic fibrosis and pediatric patients.
Emergent Response: Quickly respond to emergency situations and perform critical interventions.
Charge Role & ED Work: May be required to take on Charge duties and work in the Emergency Department (ED) once proficiencies are completed.
Proficiency Requirements: Must maintain proficiencies in both adult ICU care and general units. New hires are expected to complete proficiency requirements within one year.
Physical Demands: Standing for most of the shift and performing repetitive movements is required.
Licensing: Must be licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Vermont before starting.
Education: Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care program.
Certification: Must be NBRC-certified (Registered Respiratory Therapist) within one year of hire.
Current Certifications:
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or related field.
