Job Description

The Progressive Care Unit at Tampa General Hospital is an elite team of acute care professionals who treat catastrophically ill, medically complex patients requiring extended acute care. Most patients are ventilator dependent with multiple co-morbidities. The successful candidate will have experience working as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital setting, a compassionate and caring attitude, and a proven ability to work collaboratively.

Registered Respiratory Therapists are responsible for independently utilizing current respiratory care administration and monitoring practices in accordance with physician's orders. As a critical part of our patient care team, you will collaborate with physicians, registered nurses, nursing assistants, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and physical therapy to provide superior quality of care.

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating and recommending treatment plans to help patients reach maximum performance levels through therapy.
  • Documenting patient's evolution and progress reports.
  • Operating various oxygen and therapeutic gas and mist inhalation equipment.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships with patients, their families, and the healthcare team.

Schedule:

  • 12-hour shifts
  • PM shift available

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an accredited Respiratory Care program.
  • Two years of experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Current State of Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist licensure.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required.
