GENERAL DUTIES

Clinical Skills:

• Proficiency in critical care procedures including Patient Assessment, Ventilator Management, Arterial Punctures, Code III Response, Bronchoscopy Assistance, Intubation, Monitoring Equipment use, Airway Management, Endo/Nasotracheal Suctioning, and Arterial Line Placement.
• Proficiency in general care procedures including Patient Assessment, Aerosol Therapy, IPPB, CPT, Oxygen Therapy, Incentive Spirometry, Aerochamber/Inhaler, Peak Flow Meters.
• Effective time management to prioritize patient care activities.
• Completion of assigned tasks within designated timeframes.
• Safe operation of all necessary equipment within hospital policies.
• Proper stocking of areas and meeting supply needs.

Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance:

• Commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement through monitoring and documentation.
• Participation in department and hospital quality initiatives.
• Reporting incidents or near misses via BeSafe portal.
• Involvement in planning and problem solving.

Education:

• Attendance at mandatory training and staff meetings.
• Maintaining licensure and certifications.
• Providing in-services related to job scope and compliance.
• Sharing knowledge gained from conferences and training with staff.

Infection Control, Safety, and Risk Management:

• Adherence to BSI policies and PPE usage.
• Reporting exposures appropriately.
• Using aseptic techniques when required.
• Following Infection Control policies.
• Enforcing safety policies and maintaining a safe environment.

Patient Communication:

• Communicating treatments clearly to facilitate understanding.
• Respecting patient confidentiality.
• Seeking collaboration for problem-solving in patient care.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS; Licensed Respiratory Therapist (Louisiana); Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC).
