Job summary

Christian Hospital in St. Louis is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Team. This part-time night position runs 6:45pm–7:15am with two 12-hour shifts per week, and no on-call requirements.

We offer a $5,000 sign-on bonus and support growth within a leading academic healthcare system. Minimum qualifications include an Associate or COARC Accredited Respiratory Therapy program, with licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner and BLS; RRT desirable.

Qualifications

• Associate or COARC Accredited Program in Respiratory Therapy.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team and document care.
• Educate patients, families, students, and staff about respiratory therapies.
• Demonstrate accountability, continuous learning, and time management.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures per standards and guidelines.
• Support advanced clinical tasks such as ECMO, ventilator support, and bronchoscopy as needed.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities related to respiratory care including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation within the guidelines of the hospital and department. Can independently apply advanced clinical respiratory expertise and scientific knowledge, serving as a resource to others as part of the patient care team. Ensures patient safety by providing care in an effective, developmentally and age‑appropriate manner while complying with all quality and regulatory requirements and quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicates by participating in information exchange, including documentation, handoff, and works collaboratively with the healthcare team.
• Provides education and training about respiratory therapy treatments and procedures to patients, families, students, new employees and healthcare team members, utilizing diverse learning styles.
• Holds oneself accountable, seeks opportunities for continuous learning and feedback, and can perform multiple related duties, prioritizing and applying effective time management.
• Performs diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures according to established standards, procedures, guidelines and policies, applying respiratory knowledge and clinical expertise, including assessment, analysis and troubleshooting as needed.
• Demonstrates advanced clinical and critical care skills to support additional job responsibilities such as ECMO support, mechanical ventilator support, bronchoscopies, sleep lab, labor and delivery, cardiopulmonary and circulatory rehabilitation, Basic Life Support (BLS), etc., as needed.
