Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital, classified as a stroke receiving center and Level I Trauma Center, with a comprehensive Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team offers inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.

General Duties

The respiratory care practitioner (RCP) provides respiratory care to patients, supporting departmental functions. The RCP performs respiratory therapy in both non-critical and critical care areas under minimal supervision, completing established competencies within designated periods, and maintaining all necessary licensures and certifications.

The Advanced Clinical Respiratory Care Practitioner delivers complex patient care, utilizing advanced concepts of Respiratory Therapy and patient-focused care. They actively participate in department protocols, act as a resource, and are involved in staff orientation and training in adult and pediatric care areas.

Shift and Schedule

Shift: Days

Hours: 0700-1930

Schedule: 4 (12) hour shifts per two-week pay period. Some weekends required.

Minimum Requirements

• Current Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in California
• Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician with 3 years’ experience or graduate of AMA 2-4 year Respiratory Therapist program; or RRT certified by NBRC after July 2002
• Maintained licensure and certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS)
• NICU experience if applicable, with additional certifications and experience as specified

Preferred Qualifications

• 2-3 years acute care experience
• Graduate of a 2-4 year AMA therapist program
• Membership in professional organizations (e.g., ARRC, NBRC)
