Job description

Job Title: Physical Therapist (Part-Time, Days)

Job Summary: The Physical Therapist assesses, plans, implements prescribed physical therapy treatments, and supervises individual patient care. Provides quality services autonomously in a hospital setting. Assists patients in preventing disability and promotes maximal patient and caregiver participation. Responsible for recovery programs following disease, injury, surgery, or loss of a body part. Provides care according to Physical Therapy, Medical Center policies, procedures, and discipline-specific practice acts. Provides inpatient services under physician orders. Supervises Physical Therapy Assistants upon request. Participates in case conferences and discharge planning meetings, coordinating with Case Managers for patients who may continue physical therapy after hospital discharge. Performs other duties as needed.

Education and Experience:
  • Master's Degree in Physical Therapy required.
  • A combination of education, training, and experience in Physical Therapy is acceptable.
  • No experience required.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of equipment, assessment tools, and Home Medical Equipment (HME).
  • Knowledgeable in documentation required by regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to read, write legibly, and speak in English (Spanish preferred) with professional quality.
  • Proficiency in computer and software programs necessary for the position.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
  • Effective communication and positive relationship-building skills.
  • Assertiveness and consistency in policy enforcement.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and respond courteously.
  • Collaboration skills and ability to accept direction.
  • Critical thinking and independent work capability.
  • Basic math skills and workload management.
  • Attention to detail and accurate recall of information.
  • Sensory abilities as required for patient care, including color and smell differentiation, hearing, vision, and temperature discernment.
Licensures and Certifications:
  • Current license by California Board of Physical Therapy required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • California Children Services (CCS) paneling required if assigned to Pediatric Rehabilitation or to fulfill CCS paneling requirements within twelve months of hire.
