Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner to perform critical care and diagnostic procedures for cardiopulmonary diseases across patients of all ages.

You will set up and operate respiratory care equipment, assess patients, interpret results, and communicate care plans with physicians and nurses. The role emphasizes airway care competency, routine patient assessment, and participation in respiratory protocol assessments to support high-quality patient

Responsibilities

• Perform critical care and diagnostic procedures utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiopulmonary diseases on patients of all ages.
• Perform basic respiratory equipment maintenance, quality control measures and other administrative or technical tasks.
• Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment.
• Perform a range of technical procedures related to cardiopulmonary hemodynamics.
• Demonstrate competency in proper airway care.
• Assess patients appropriately, interpret results accurately, and suggest alternative respiratory treatment.
• Exhibit competency in the performance of routine patient assessment and in the ability to correctly recognize and interpret respiratory dysfunction.
• Function as a respiratory care protocol assessor.
• Communicate regularly with physicians and nurses about patient care plans and updates.
