Job summary

Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, GA is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for night shifts. The RRT will perform respiratory therapies, diagnostic tests, and lead patient care under physician orders, potentially serving as Lead RCP during shifts.

The role requires an active RCP license, NBRC RRT certification or completion within 3 months, BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, and 2 years of acute care experience. At least an associate or BS degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) NBRC or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC on hire and current.
• Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification on hire and current.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification on hire and current or within 60 days.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification preferred.
• Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.
• Two years of acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide treatments such as inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications.
• Conduct tests like pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gas analysis to assess lung capacity and gas exchange.
• Set up, monitor, and adjust ventilators and other life-support equipment.
• May be part of rapid response team in emergencies, providing airway management and resuscitation.
• Assess respiratory status, monitor progress, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Ensure respiratory equipment is cleaned, sterilized, and maintained for patient safety.

We are seeking aRegisteredRespiratory Therapist,internallyreferred to ourRRT.The RRT can be referred to as aRespiratory Care Practitioner(RCP II)butsomeone whocarries out respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as directed by the medical and cardiopulmonary directors, based on physician orders. They focus on assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting care while considering the specific needs of patients based on age and population; in the absence of a supervisor, they may bedesignatedas the Lead RCP, overseeing the department during their shift.

Responsibilities

Willprovide treatments such as inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications to help patients breathe more easily

• Conduct tests like pulmonary function testsandarterial blood gas analysis to assess lung capacity and gas exchange in patients

• Set up,monitor, and adjust ventilators and other life-supporting equipment for patients who cannot breathe independently

• May bepart ofarapid response team in emergencies,which you willprovideairway management, perform intubations, and resuscitatepatients in critical situations

• Assess patients' respiratory status,monitortheir progress, andmake adjustments totreatment plans as needed

• Ensure that all respiratory equipment isproperly cleaned, sterilized, andmaintainedto prevent infections and ensure patient safety

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• 1. Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
• 2. Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
• 3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current.
• 4. Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the AHA or ARC certification upon hire and maintain current.
• 5. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the AHA certification upon hire and maintain current or obtained within 60 days of hire.
• 6. Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate is preferred.
• 7. Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
• 8. Two (2) years of acute care experience is preferred.
