This position is sign-on bonus eligible! Registered Respiratory Therapists are eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus with a 1-year commitment for full-time and some part-time positions. Job Summary

Performs all aspects of direct respiratory care according to physician’s orders and/or approved protocols. Consults physicians on the effectiveness of therapy and makes appropriate recommendations. Provides ventilator support and maintains cardiopulmonary life support equipment. Maintains and properly utilizes respiratory care equipment.



Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates knowledge of various oxygen delivery modes and equipment, conducting prescribed therapeutic procedures to ensure adequate oxygenation.
  • Administers therapeutic procedures, understanding their purpose, benefits, and potential effects. Performs diagnostic procedures as per policy.
  • Initiates, monitors, and maintains mechanical and non-invasive ventilators, understanding critical care duties and therapy effects.
  • Evaluates current therapies independently, making proper recommendations for care plans and patient education.
  • Documents therapy and results as required, communicating effectively with the healthcare team.
  • Conducts emergency respiratory care procedures and blood sampling analysis, understanding the significance of results and treatments for abnormal values.
  • Works independently across patient care areas, assists colleagues, and is proficient with electronic medical records and their interface with the Respiratory Care Department.
  • Adheres to departmental safety guidelines, completes regulatory requirements, and annual proficiency evaluations of equipment and procedures.

Physical Requirements

Requires repetitive physical activity, walking, standing, lifting 20-50 pounds, moving patients of all ages, and having adequate hearing and eyesight. May involve exposure to odors, low lighting, and crowded conditions.



Education, Experience, and Certifications

Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care program. Associate’s RRT or RRT equivalent required; Bachelor's preferred. Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care. Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in North Carolina. BLS required; advanced certifications per policy. For emergency and virtual critical care, 2 years critical care experience required.
