Job summary

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) at Methodist Richardson Medical Center provides comprehensive respiratory care for adult and neonatal patients, including ventilator support, ABG analysis, PFTs, oxygen and aerosol therapy, and airway maintenance under the department's medical director's policies.

Qualifications

• Must be graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Currently licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Texas.
• NBRC RRT certification (Registered) required/eligible.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation including bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview, and review of the medical record.
• Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment such as ventilators, oxygen analyzers, and blood gas analyzers.
• Participates in infection control, safety, and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Uses patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required
