Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner to provide medical services under physician supervision in a hospital setting. This role involves independently applying respiratory care modalities and serving as a clinical resource for physicians and staff.

The position may include neonatal and pediatric care in ICU and during transport, and may involve a range of diagnostic tests to monitor and enhance patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner License (California) is required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist Certificate is required.
• Basic Life Support is required.
• Depending on the specialty, ACLS/NRP/PALS may be required.

Responsibilities

• Reads and evaluates physician orders and clarifies as needed.
• Accurately transcribes physician orders to electronic charting system or patient master.
• Assesses cardiopulmonary status and develops a goal-directed plan of care.
• Operates respiratory care equipment and monitors patient responses to therapy.
• Performs diagnostic tests (ABG, spirometry, etc.) and interprets results.
• Provides patient education and participates in discharge planning.
