Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner II to assess, plan, implement and evaluate respiratory therapy for adult ICU, pediatrics and Med/Surg patients under physician supervision.

This role delivers life support, oxygen and medical gas therapy, chest physiotherapy, blood gas analysis and critical care monitoring, participates in rounds, documents care accurately and collaborates with the care team to tailor treatments to age, diagnoses, and patient status.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in adult ICU, Pediatrics and Med/Surg.
• Graduate of an approved 2-year Respiratory Care program accredited by RCAB or CoARC.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner License (California) from NBRC.
• Basic Life Support
• Registered Respiratory Therapist Certificate
• CPFT or RPFT certification required for PFT laboratory work
• Ability to provide functional direction to RCPs I and II and lead in ICU/Pediatrics/Med-Surg
• PALS certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Upholds Kaiser Permanente policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
• Provide direct respiratory care and participate in patient care rounds.
• Assess and document patient data from respiratory monitoring devices.
• Initiate and adjust respiratory care plans based on patient needs.
• Perform blood gas analysis and ensure quality control.
• Respond to emergencies and manage ventilator support as needed.
• Maintain equipment inventory and ensure safety.
