Job Summary

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the respiratory therapist acts as a key member of the healthcare team by providing respiratory therapy services throughout the continuum of care. Responsibilities include performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures for patients with, or at risk of, cardiopulmonary abnormalities. The therapist collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement optimal care plans. They assess patients, evaluate therapy effectiveness, and delegate tasks appropriately. Additionally, they instruct and evaluate employees and students in respiratory care procedures and may serve as an in-charge therapist and preceptor as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an AMA/CoARC approved Respiratory Care program with an associate's degree in Science, Allied Health, or equivalent, or equivalent education/experience.
• Registration (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Current BCLS certification; ACLS certification preferred.
• Licensed to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in Michigan.
