Job summary

Horizon Post Acute and Rehabilitation Center in Kansas is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide expert respiratory care to residents in a skilled nursing setting, shaping their health and quality of life through assessments and therapies.

Full-time, 40 hours weekly; pay range $40-$47 per hour depending on experience. We offer medical/dental/vision, PTO, earned wage access, ongoing training, and a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Valid state license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • NBRC certification as Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • Experience in long-term care or nursing homes preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of residents’ respiratory status and review medical history.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on needs and protocols.
  • Administer therapies (Acapella, IS, EZPAP, CPT) to promote lung function.
  • Monitor responses and adjust plans in coordination with medical staff.
  • Educate residents and families about respiratory health and care options.
  • Document assessments, treatments, and progress in medical records.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care meetings to discuss residents’ plans.
  • Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of respiratory equipment per infection control.
  • Stay updated with best practices and engage in ongoing professional development.

Work Schedule: Full-time - 40 hours a week. 10 & 12 hour shifts available

Pay Range: $40 - $47/ Hour; depending on experience

Job Summary:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of residents’ respiratory status, including reviewing medical history and performing physical examinations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on residents’ needs and established protocols.
  • Administer respiratory therapies including Acapella, Incentive Spirometry (IS), EZPAP, and Chest Physiotherapy (CPT) to promote optimal lung function and prevent complications.
  • Monitor residents’ responses to treatment and adjust care plans as necessary, in collaboration with the medical staff.
  • Educate residents and their families about respiratory health, treatment options, and best practices for managing respiratory conditions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessments, treatments, and progress notes in residents’ medical records.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss resident care and contribute to overall care strategies.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and cleanliness of respiratory equipment, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Stay current with best practices and advancements in respiratory therapy and participate in ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Valid state license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Previous experience in a long-term care or nursing home setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team and independently.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and documentation standards.
