Job summary

AdventHealth in Killeen, Texas, is seeking a Full Time Respiratory Therapist for day shifts. This role requires 3x12s with rotating weekends and supports neonatal to geriatric patient care.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to manage respiratory therapies, ventilators, and patient assessments. The ideal candidate holds an Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science, Texas RCP license, NBRC RRT, and BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP certifications, with preferred critical care

Qualifications

• Texas RCP license required.
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.
• Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program required.
• 1+ year of critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Documents and charges for procedures accurately and completely.
• Collaborates with the care team to assist with patient flow.
• Follows hospital safety policies and interprets evaluations and test results with the team.
• Responds to Code Blue emergencies with CPR according to AHA guidelines.
• Delivers respiratory therapies and recommends delivery methods per protocol.
• Obtains and analyzes arterial blood gases and co-oximetry; performs quality controls.
• Maintains airway management and operates mechanical ventilators as required.
• Assesses patients to determine therapy efficacy and suggests changes per dept. protocol.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

Shift: Full Time Days

3x12s including rotating weekends

• Documents and charges for procedures accurately and completely.
• Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork in assisting with patient flow.
• Practices standard precautions and enforces safety regulations according to hospital policies. Interprets evaluations and test results to determine appropriate treatment plans in consultation with interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Responds to all Code Blue emergencies immediately providing CPR according to the American Heart Association and performs other duties as directed.
• Performs respiratory and oxygen delivery therapies and makes recommendations to the most efficient delivery method per protocol.
• Obtains, analyzes and reports findings of arterial blood gases and co-oximetry; performs quality controls as needed.
• Performs airway maintenance including: proper use of manual resuscitators, oral and nasal pharyngeal airway insertion, and airway suctioning. Initiates, maintains, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators to include basic conventional modes of ventilation per policy and procedure.
• Utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, chart review, and confers with multidisciplinary team to determine efficacy of therapy in a cost and time efficient manner making appropriate recommendations and changes per department protocol.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations per hospital needs. [Required]
