Job summary

Memorial Hospital - Hixson is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join an established RT team delivering specialized cardiopulmonary care. You will manage treatments from nebulizers to ventilator support, applying strong assessment skills and critical thinking daily.

Responsibilities include evaluating patients, documenting in real time, and educating families while supporting quality improvement and patient well-being in routine and emergent situations.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Six to twelve months of experience in Respiratory Care or related field.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner license or eligible in TN, upon hire.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist within 12 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) required; ACLS and PALS within 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients and recommend a treatment plan.
  • Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex conditions.
  • Perform or assist with insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
  • Document accurately in real time and maintain charts.
  • Promote continuous quality improvement.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Sunday - Saturday (7p - 7a) X 2 days

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will join an established team of RTs who share your passion for delivering highly specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients experiencing breathing issues. You'll be instrumental in providing a range of treatments from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support.

Every day you will apply your keen assessment skills and critical thinking to manage diverse patient needs, develop and execute effective care plans, and ensure calm, focused intervention in both routine and emergent situations.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong sense of urgency, unwavering calm under pressure, and the ability to anticipate outcomes. Your dedication to patient well-being and exceptional problem-solving abilities will drive success in this vital role.

  • Evaluating patient and recommends a treatment plan.
  • Provides respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical/ surgical conditions.
  • Performing/assisting insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
  • Performing timely and accurate documentation with the idea of real time charting.
  • Promoting continuous quality improvement.
  • Educating and counseling patients, family members, and caregivers.
