Job summary

Texas Health Mansfield is seeking a PRN Nights Respiratory Therapist to deliver respiratory care in an acute care setting. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and efficient patient flow, including ventilator management and ABG analysis.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy, is BLS certified, and possesses NBRC RRT with Texas RCP. Critical care and NICU experience are preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science.
• BLS, RCP license and NBRC RRT certification required.
• 1+ critical care experience preferred; NICU experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Documents and charges for procedures accurately and completely.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to manage patient flow.
• Interprets evaluations and test results to determine treatment plans.
• Responds to Code Blue emergencies with CPR according to ACLS/AHA guidelines.
• Operates and monitors ventilators per policy and procedures.
• Performs ABG analysis and quality controls as needed.
• Airway management including suctioning and ventilator management.
• Contributes to cost- and time-efficient therapy decisions per department protocol.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

PRN Nights

PRN Rate: $45.00/hour + Night Shift Diff

• Documents and charges for procedures accurately and completely.
• Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork in assisting with patient flow.
• Practices standard precautions and enforces safety regulations according to hospital policies. Interprets evaluations and test results to determine appropriate treatment plans in consultation with interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Responds to all Code Blue emergencies immediately providing CPR according to the American Heart Association and performs other duties as directed.
• Performs respiratory and oxygen delivery therapies and makes recommendations to the most efficient delivery method per protocol.
• Obtains, analyzes and reports findings of arterial blood gases and co-oximetry; performs quality controls as needed.
• Performs airway maintenance including: proper use of manual resuscitators, oral and nasal pharyngeal airway insertion, and airway suctioning. Initiates, maintains, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators to include basic conventional modes of ventilation per policy and procedure.
• Utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, chart review, and confers with multidisciplinary team to determine efficacy of therapy in a cost and time efficient manner making appropriate recommendations and changes per department protocol.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations per hospital needs. [Required]

Field of Study:

• in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science

Work Experience:

• 1+ critical care experience with adult population [Preferred]
• NICU experience highly preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Texas Medical Board Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) [Required]
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Required]
