Job summary

Texas Health Mansfield is seeking a PRN Nights Respiratory Therapist to support patient care in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will document procedures, collaborate with the care team, and manage respiratory therapies and ventilator support per protocol.

The role requires an Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy, active BLS, Texas RCP, and NBRC RRT certification, with 1+ year critical care experience preferred. NICU experience is highly preferred, with night shift differential included.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science.
• 1+ year critical care experience with adult population preferred; NICU experience highly preferred.
• BLS, Texas Medical Board Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) and NBRC RRT certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Documents and charges procedures accurately.
• Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork in assisting with patient flow.
• Follows standard precautions and safety regulations.
• Interprets evaluations and test results with interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Responds to Code Blue emergencies and performs CPR per AHA guidelines.
• Administers respiratory therapies and optimizes delivery methods per protocol.
• Performs arterial blood gas analysis and quality controls as needed.
• Maintains airway management including airway devices and ventilation support.
• Assesses patients and adjusts therapy per department protocol.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

PRN Nights PRN Rate: $45.00/hour + Night Shift Diff

• Documents and charges for procedures accurately and completely.
• Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork in assisting with patient flow.
• Practices standard precautions and enforces safety regulations according to hospital policies.
• Interprets evaluations and test results to determine appropriate treatment plans in consultation with interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Responds to all Code Blue emergencies immediately providing CPR according to the American Heart Association and performs other duties as directed.
• Performs respiratory and oxygen delivery therapies and makes recommendations to the most efficient delivery method per protocol.
• Obtains, analyzes and reports findings of arterial blood gases and co-oximetry; performs quality controls as needed.
• Performs airway maintenance including: proper use of manual resuscitators, oral and nasal pharyngeal airway insertion, and airway suctioning.
• Initiates, maintains, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators to include basic conventional modes of ventilation per policy and procedure.
• Utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, chart review, and confers with multidisciplinary team to determine efficacy of therapy in a cost and time efficient manner making appropriate recommendations and changes per department protocol.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations per hospital needs.

Education:

Work Experience:

• 1+ critical care experience with adult population [Preferred]
