Job summary

HCA Healthcare, Inc. Asheville location seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care across emergency, critical, and general settings. You will assess patients, deliver therapies, manage ventilation, and support newborn stabilization as needed.

Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, patient education, and collaboration with physicians and nurses to ensure high-quality care. NBRC-registered with NC license and BCLS required; ACLS/PALS/NRP preferred.

Qualifications

• Registered by NBRC with NBRC certification
• North Carolina license from NCRCB and current BCLS
• ACLS/PALS/NRP preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Assess respiratory status via focused exams, breath sounds, and airway patency.
• Deliver evidence-based therapy including oxygen, meds, airway clearance.
• Manage ventilation and airways with invasive/noninvasive support.
• Educate patients/families and coordinate with care team.
• Maintain equipment and ensure infection prevention compliance.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Role Summary: Supports department by providing care to patients requiring all types of respiratory support including critical, emergency, general therapy, and infant transport. Supports organizational improvement by teaching and participating in the management of resources for patient care.Your role will include:

• Assessing respiratory statusby performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, anddeterminingthe need for respiratory interventions.
• Deliveringevidence-based therapyby providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings.
• Managing ventilation and airwaysbyassistingwith artificial airway placement,initiatingand adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation,monitoringpatientresponses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies.
• Supporting patients and the care teamby educating patients and families, serving as a clinical resource, partnering with physicians and nurses, and helping stabilize newborns during deliveries when needed.
• Maintainingequipment and safetyby setting up,operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensuring readiness and preventive maintenance; transporting ventilated patients safely; and following all infection-prevention standards.

What qualifications you will need:

• Required Education: Associates Degree in Respiratory Care OR Completion of Respiratory Care Program Accredited by Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) Preferred Education: Associates Degree in Respiratory Care OR Completion of Respiratory Care Program Accredited by Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and 20 years of experience
• Required License:Registered by NBRC; a current North Carolina License issued by North Carolina Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB) and a current BCLS.
• Preferred License:ACLS, PALS, NRP (Pediatric-Perinatal Specialty)
• Required Experience:None
• Preferred Experience: 2 Years Critical Care
