Job summary

UAB Medicine in Pell City, AL, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for PRN coverage at UAB St Vincent's St Clair to evaluate and treat patients with respiratory insufficiencies.

You will develop care plans, implement and monitor treatments and equipment, educate patients and families, and participate in equipment maintenance and inventory control.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or transfer date required.
• Licensed Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Alabama Board of Respiratory Therapy before hire.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist credentialed from NBRC before hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
• Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
• Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment; monitor, record and communicate patient condition; perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
• Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcomes.
• Educate the patient and family about the health condition and provide information about community support groups and other programs.
• Assist with care, calibration and maintenance of all equipment; maintain departmental inventory; process equipment per cleaning/sterilization procedures.
• Respond to emergency resuscitation team calls

Job Description

• Assist with care, calibration and maintenance of all equipment. Participate in maintaining departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment. Processe equipment per established cleaning/sterilization procedures.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Alabama Board of Respiratory Therapy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Certified Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• Graduate from an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.
