Qualifications

Position Summary

  1. Department: Medical Center Radiology Group - Radiologists Administration
  2. Status: Full-Time | 40 hours per week
  3. Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
  4. Title: Registered Radiologist Assistant

The registered radiologist assistant (RRA) is an advanced practice radiologic technologist who works under the supervision of a radiologist. The RRA helps with all aspects of patient care in the radiology department, including conducting consultations, providing education, and performing clinical procedures.

About Orlando Health Medical Group (OHMG): Orlando Health Medical Group is a comprehensive physician group serving patients from across the southeastern United States, with over 200 practices and 1,200 physicians across more than 55 specialties, including cardiology, orthopedics, oncology, neurology, and many more. It is part of the Orlando Health system, which includes 24 hospitals, ERs, specialty institutes, urgent care centers, primary care practices, and outpatient facilities across Florida.

Responsibilities

  1. Review patient medical records to verify exam or procedure appropriateness and report significant findings to the radiologist.
  2. Perform physical examinations, analyze data, and report findings.
  3. Interview patients for medical history updates.
  4. Explain procedures, risks, benefits, and alternatives to patients and assess contraindication factors.
  5. Administer oxygen, monitor IVs, position patients, and perform urinary catheterization as needed.
  6. Recognize and respond to medical emergencies.
  7. Operate fluoroscopic units and evaluate images for quality.
  8. Apply radiation safety principles and standard precautions.
  9. Communicate findings and reports to physicians and patients, document procedures, and ensure compliance with policies.

Qualifications

  1. Education/Training: Bachelor’s Degree; completion of an ARRT-approved radiologist assistant program.
  2. Licensure/Certification: Active Radiologist Assistant certificate (AART or CBRPA), Florida licensure, ARRT certification, and current ACLS.
  3. Experience: Provision of inpatient radiologic services for at least 100 patients in the past 12 months or completion of training within the last 12 months with a reference letter; renewal requires at least 400 patients served in the past 2 years.
