Steuben County, New York is currently recruiting candidates for the provisional position of REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL NURSE

This position is located at the Steuben County Department of Community Services.

The work involves responsibility for the provision of professional nursing services to the clients of Mental Health Programs and the Alcohol & Substance Abuse Program.

The work is performed in accordance with established professional nursing practices and involves following special orders from physicians in the treatment of mental health or substance abuse clients. Assignments concerning client care are usually given directly by the Physician assigned to the mental health or substance abuse program, but the incumbent is expected to perform routine duties without detailed instruction. The Director of Community Services, Program Medical Director and Coordinator oversee the program(s) and multidisciplinary team(s). General and Clinical Supervision is exercised by the Program Coordinator and/or an assigned Senior/Staff Social Worker or Senior Counselor, in accordance with NYS Office of Department of Mental Health and NYS Office of Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) regulations. The duties are performed in conjunction with the work of other mental health clinicians. Does related work as required.

MUST BE SUCCESSFUL IN A CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION AT A LATER DATE.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from a school of nursing registered by the State Education Department from a course approved by such department as qualifying for Registered Professional Nurse licensure.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT(S) Possession of a license issued by the State of New York to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse is required for appointment.

SALARY/BENEFITS $59,873 - $74,172 Annually NYS Retirement and an excellent benefits package
