Job Description Summary

The Polysomnographic technologist works under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and home sleep apnea testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education. The technologist should be registered in sleep technology or be eligible to sit for the registry exam within 6 months of hire. The Medical University of South Carolina Sleep Center is located in Charleston at the main hospital. It is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. We are looking for strong dedicated people to join our team with a passion to deliver the best possible healthcare and education to our patients. We provide testing for all ages (0-99+).

Job Description

Under the direction of a physician, administer various sleep studies to diagnose the type and extent of sleep disorders. Perform routine patient assessments, score sleep records, document other test results, and collect and transmit biological specimens for analysis.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and 3 years of relevant patient care experience.
  • Average 10 credits of sleep education per year over the past 36 months.
  • Board Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, or holds a credential in a related field i.e.: Respiratory, EEG, Nursing.
  • If credentialed in a related field, sleep credential required within 24 months.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
