Job summary

Northeast Florida Health Services, Inc. in Florida is seeking a full-time Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our Federally Qualified Health Center pharmacy team.

Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, you will help prepare and dispense medications, assist patients with prescriptions, insurance questions, and access to patient assistance programs. As a Registered Pharmacy Technician, you’ll work closely with our pharmacists, healthcare providers, and patients in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced pharmacy technician who combines accuracy and efficiency with compassion and outstanding customer service.

What You’ll Do

Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, you will support the safe and efficient preparation and dispensing of medications while helping patients navigate prescriptions, insurance coverage, and medication-access resources.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist pharmacists with accurately and efficiently processing, preparing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions
  • Receive written and electronic prescriptions and refill requests, ensuring information is complete and accurate prior to data entry
  • Establish and maintain accurate patient profiles, including allergies, medications, insurance information, and other required information
  • Process prescription insurance claims and troubleshoot third-party billing rejections
  • Count, weigh, measure, pour, and reconstitute prescription medications within the Pharmacy Technician scope of practice
  • Accept and process patient payments
  • Assist patients with accessing available Patient Assistance Programs and other medication resources
  • Provide friendly, compassionate service to patients in person and over the phone
  • Support medication and supply inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and identifying shortages
  • Monitor inventory for expired or outdated medications and assist with appropriate returns
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked pharmacy environment
  • Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement and compliance initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with pharmacists, providers, clinical staff, and other members of the healthcare team
What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Florida Board of Pharmacy
  • Minimum of one year of retail pharmacy experience
  • Experience billing prescription insurance claims and resolving third-party rejections
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to work effectively with pharmacy and electronic health record systems
  • Experience withPioneerRx preferred
  • PTCB or NHA Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position works in a busy pharmacy environment where patient service is the priority. The role requires the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, including assisting patients, answering phones, processing prescriptions, supporting inventory functions, and completing other pharmacy responsibilities accurately and efficiently.

The position requires standing for moderate to extended periods, as well as walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and other movement necessary to perform pharmacy functions. The ability to communicate effectively and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds is also required.
