Registered Nurses (RN) - Float (districtwide travel)
We are hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) - Float (Districtwide Travel) for one of our clients in DeLand, FL.
Pay range: $24.07/yr - $31.40/yr
Job Description
- Identify, evaluate and assess health problems and concerns.
- Coordinate any necessary medical interventions needed.
- Supervise school clinic, providing nursing care and physician ordered treatments, procedures and medications to designated students.
- Coordinate and maintain effective and productive operation of designated health room and/or treatment sites, including clinic supplies.
- Coordinate and facilitate health screenings, referrals and follow-up of students.
- Manage all cases of health problem referrals.
- Function as a health education resource person to school faculty and staff.
- Provide nursing consultation to the faculty and school administrators.
- Provide, maintain, and interpret student health records.
- Attend student staffings and participate in individual educational plans as appropriate.
- Maintain appropriate and accurate nursing documentation of all nursing care, treatments, procedures, and medications.
- Provide health related in-service programs to school personnel when appropriate.
- Utilize existing health resources to provide appropriate care of students.
- Develop procedures and provide for crisis intervention for acute illnesses and injury.
- Provide individual, group or family health counseling.
- Attend appropriate seminars, workshops and continuing educational programs related to school health and school nursing practice for professional improvement.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Nursing Supervisor.
Education & Experience Required
- Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code.
- Associate's Degree or diploma from an accredited nursing school; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- With Associate's Degree three (3) years experience in pediatric, public health, family practice/pediatric office, or school nursing; With Bachelor's Degree in Nursing two (2) years experience in pediatric, public health, family practice/pediatric office, or school nursing.
- Current CPR and first aid certification.
- Possess a valid Florida Driver's License; or if holder of any other valid US state-issued Driver's License, agree to acquire a Florida Driver's License within thirty (30) days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required.
Skills Required
- Ability to administer medications safely and accurately.
- Ability to exhibit skill in the use of medical equipment and instruments used in providing nursing care.
- Ability to teach selected students selected procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of student health issues.
- Ability to determine work priorities, assist in the assignment of work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
- Ability to communicate clearly with parents, physicians, other health care workers, faculty and school administrators.
- Ability to communicate with students on their cognitive level.
- Ability to provide health assessments.
- Ability to develop and implement a health plan.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Control Principles and Universal Precautions.
Remarks
- 24.07 to $31.40 per hour with no college degree.
- $28.38 to $35.13 per hour with a bachelor's degree in nursing; $30.90 to $38.21 per hour with a master's degree in nursing.
