Three Rivers Behavioral Health in West Columbia, SC is seeking a Full Time Weekend Intake Registered Nurse (RN) to be the first point of contact for referrals and admissions. The role includes completing intake assessments, coordinating admissions, and supporting patients and families in a psychiatric setting.

Weekend hours include Friday 1pm–9:30pm, Saturday 9am–9:30pm, and Sunday 9am–9:30pm. We offer competitive pay with weekend shift differentials and a comprehensive benefits program.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelors in Nursing and current SC RN license.
• Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric population.
• Knowledge of hospital admission processes, psychiatric assessment and risk assessment.
• Understanding EMTALA, HIPAA and third-party payer knowledge preferred.
• Ability to handle interruptions and work in a fast-paced environment; strong communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for referrals and patients for scheduling assessments/admissions.
• Conduct assessments and complete intake tools as required by Three Rivers Behavioral Health.
• Assist with admission or referral decisions to best address client needs.
• Document findings, recommendations and outcomes.
• Triage, insurance precertification, data entry and clinical documentation.

The Weekend Intake Counselor RN serves as the first point of contact for referral sources and potential patients to schedule assessments and/or admissions. Thoroughly assesses and completes the assessment tool for all clients as required by Three Rivers Behavioral Health. Assist clients in being admitted or referred out to the service or resource to best address their needs. Documenting findings, recommendations and outcome. Triage, insurance precertification, computer entry and data analysis & clinical documentation.

The Weekend Shift is Friday 1pm - 9:30pm; Saturday 9am - 9:30pm and Sunday 9am - 9:30pm.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelors in Nursing and current SC RN License.


• Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.


• Prefer knowledge of hospital admission functions, psychological assessment and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses symptomology, basic chemical dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management.


• Understanding of EMTALA guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and third-party payer knowledge preferred.


• Ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another; must be flexible and not easily frustrated in dealing with differences of opinion.


• Strong verbal & written communication skills; Detail oriented & strong computer skills


• Must be able to exercise self-control in potentially volatile situations, such as being verbally or physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner


• Must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions, such as noise, conversation, and foot traffic


• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
