Job summary

Equus Workforce Solutions in San Francisco seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to deliver medical care to students in our Job Corps program. You will follow standing orders and physician directives, monitor patients, and coordinate care with the Health Services team.

You will train staff in CPR and First Aid, assist physicians during exams, maintain accurate records, and ensure a safe, respectful environment for youth and staff. On-call duties may apply as needed.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of employment.
• At least two years of related nursing experience.
• Experience working with diverse youth.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

• Take temperatures, pulse, blood pressure, and monitor patient progress.
• Assist physicians and prepare patients for examinations.
• Prepare and administer prescribed medications and maintain records.

• Maintain medical equipment and inventory of supplies and medications.
• Provide medical counseling/education to students.
• Foster a safe, respectful environment and ensure safety practices.

Job Description

Responsible for rendering medical care to the ill or injured according to health standing orders and physician orders. Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notified the Health and Wellness Director or Physician of patients’ conditions and reactions to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.

• Takes temperatures, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to determine the patient’s progress.
• May train staff in areas of CPR, First Aide, and Crisis Intervention.
• Participates in medical examination of new students in accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) guidelines.
• May screen patients and direct them to the Center Physician, Dentist, Health Services Coordinator, Counselor, or public health department as appropriate.
• Assists the Physician with patient examinations.
• Prepares patients for tests and examinations.
• Prepares and administers prescribed medications.
• Maintains medical equipment and inventory of supplies and medications.
• Maintains accurate medical records, updates medical records in a timely manner, and retrieves all patient records of outside medical visits for continued care on center.
• Provides medical counseling/education to students.
• Models, mentors, and monitors the positive normative culture of the center.
• Acts as a responsible custodian for the assigned center property.
• Reports violations of ethical behavior.
• Suggests opportunities for continuous operational improvement and reduction of waste.
• Identifies and reports environmental health and safety concerns.
• Will provide on-call service at the discretion of the Director.
• Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
• Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
• Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
• Fosters and sustains a conducive environment at the center, ensuring it remains free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, thereby ensuring a safe space for both staff and students to engage in work and learning.
• Attends all required training opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse: active, unrestricted license to practice in the state where the center is located.
• Two years related experience.
• Experience working with diverse youth.
• A valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
