Job summary

Equus Workforce Solutions in San Marcos, TX seeks a dedicated classroom instructor to inspire and guide students toward high growth career pathways. You will promote a positive classroom atmosphere, maintain discipline, establish rapport with learners, and use diverse curriculum resources to maximize engagement and achievement.

Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans and ensuring timely attendance records, completing required forms, recording progress, and communicating with supervisors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university.
• Certified to teach in state in which center is located.
• Experience working with diverse youth.

• Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to insure maximum student motivation.
• Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting to ensure maximum learning.
• Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport.
• Utilizes all possible curriculum resources available.
• Responsible for adequate classroom preparation.
• Maintains lesson plans relevant to course material.
• Records and forwards daily attendance to the Student Records area as required.
• Assists in the completion of all necessary Job Corps forms.
• Accountable for the cleanliness of classrooms.
• Prepares reports such as student/staff hours, requisitions, attendance, and monthly student evaluations.
• Operates in accordance with the requirements of the PRH, Standard Operating Procedures in function area and corporate policies.
• Evaluates and records student progress/evaluations and case notes in CIS, where appropriate.
• Assists Supervisor during scheduled inventory.
• Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
• Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
• Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
• Fosters and sustains a conducive environment at the center, ensuring it remains free from harassment, intimidation, and disrespect, thereby ensuring a safe space for both staff and students to engage in work and learning.
• Attends all required staff training opportunities.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university

• Certified to teach in state in which center is located (RO may waive if center is unable to hire certified teachers, but the candidate must pursue certification)
• Experience working with diverse youth.

A valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
