Job Description

Vaughan Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery / Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (L&D/LDRP) Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum. This role requires a strong understanding of obstetric nursing, critical care, and emergency medicine, with the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations. The nurse will collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and positive birth experiences.

Responsibilities

1. Monitor the health of mothers and newborns throughout labor.
2. Administer medications and perform procedures such as IV placement.
3. Assist with labor management, providing education and emotional support.
4. Assess maternal-fetal well-being using appropriate tests and monitoring equipment.
5. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop care plans.
6. Respond to emergencies with critical care skills.
7. Educate patients on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
8. Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with ICD-10 standards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited BSc Nursing, Associate Degree, or Nursing Diploma program.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• BCLS certification; ACLS preferred.
• Prior experience in L&D/LDRP highly preferred.
• Minimum six months experience in an acute care setting preferred.
