Job summary

Montage Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to lead and deliver nursing care for the Level II Neonatal/Family Birth Center unit. You will work under supervision to plan, assess, and direct patient care in a fast-paced maternal-infant environment.

Must hold California RN license, BLS, and complete required orientation for NICU/Maternal-Infant care. Joint responsibilities include quality care, teamwork, safety, and patient relations in a BABY FRIENDLY hospital.

Qualifications

• One year of current hospital acute care nursing experience preferred.
• Maternal-Infant or pediatric care experience preferred.
• California RN license required; BLS required; NRP/ S.T.A.B.L.E. must be obtained.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, assess and provide nursing care according to hospital policies.
• Float to the Family Birth Center to provide postpartum maternal and infant care.

Position Summary

Under the leadership of the department director, assistant director, nursing supervisor, and/or charge nurse, the registered nurse is responsible and accountable for planning directing, assessing and providing nursing care according to the policies and procedures of the hospital and department. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and a broad nursing knowledge.

The qualified staff RN will partake in a Neonatal Orientation Education training program for the Intermediate Intensive Care Nursery (Level II) and Maternal-Infant Care in the Family Birth Center. Training will be completed on all shifts. Training includes in house classroom lecture, web-based learning, clinical practice, required courses, and in house multidisciplinary simulation drills that maybe be videotaped and reviewed for teaching purposes. The majority of training will be completed with experienced preceptors on the unit. Additional requirements include comprehensive education on breastfeeding.

Must be highly motivated, perform well under pressure, enjoy working with people and have a passion for working in a maternal-infant unit and Level 2 IICN. Clinical assessment skills and critical thinking skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced and often stressful environment and the ability to work autonomously and as a team member are essential.

The IICN is where the staff RN will be responsible for well-baby, nursery, IICN level 1 and 2 care, and maintain the skills to stabilize for transfer level 3 babies. The staff RN will be expected to float to the FBC to provide postpartum maternal and infant care. We are a BABY FRIENDLY hospital designated by the World Health Organization and UNICEF. The expectation for all staff is to adhere to the “10 Steps” of the BABY FRIENDLY initiative.

Experience

One year of current hospital acute care nursing experience preferred. Maternal-Infant or pediatric care experience preferred. New graduates are welcome to apply. NICU senior preceptorship highly desirable.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

Licensure/Certifications

State of California RN license required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS is required. NRP Advanced Provider and S.T.A.B.L.E. must be obtained prior to completion of orientation and independent assignment for any nurse hired/transferred on or after January 1, 2025. PALS and ENPC preferred
