Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies seeks a Registered Nurse Trainer/Educator at Baylor Women's Correctional Institute in New Castle, Delaware. The RN educator will mentor preceptors, orient new staff, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote quality patient outcomes.

The position requires an accredited nursing degree, RN licensure in Delaware, CPR certification, and the ability to teach and lead staff through clinical competencies and health education initiatives in a correctional

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Training experience preferred.
Active RN license in the state of employment.
Active CPR certification.
Knowledge of state nursing practice acts and regulations.

Responsibilities

Orients, educates, mentors, and supports nursing staff.
Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
Administer medications to patients and monitor reactions and side effects.
Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ condition.
Consult and coordinate with healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions.
Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a unit.
Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
Instruct individuals, families, or groups on health education and disease prevention; develop health improvement programs.
Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensure stock of supplies.
Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s condition.
Additional duties as assigned by the facility.

REGISTERED NURSE TRAINER/EDUCATOR POSITION SUMMARY:

The Nurse Educator supports and mentors preceptors to effectively orient new staff members. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to meet the educational needs of staff to promote quality patient outcomes. Demonstrates advanced clinical and communication skills. A registered Nurse (RN) delivers quality care consistent within the scope of practice as outlined by the local state nurse practice act for Registered Nurses. The RN works in accordance with local practice acts and regulations and delegates and ensures supervision of nursing activities and functions to other competent nursing personnel appropriate to their scope of practice. The RN assumes responsibility and accountability for the quality of care delivered; works to ensure a safe environment for themselves, the patient, and other staff members. The RN acts as a patient advocate to promote the quality of health care delivered in the facility and always serves as a leader to promote best practices within the profession of nursing.

REGISTERED NURSE TRAINER/EDUCATOR MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

Training experience (preferred)

Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment

Possesses an active CPR certification

Remains knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice

Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies to demonstrate aptitude as assigned by role

Must have the ability to work independently, take initiative, and have good judgment and problem-solving skills.

REGISTERED NURSE TRAINER/EDUCATOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
