Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies in Nashville is seeking a Registered Nurse Educator to mentor staff and support clinical education within correctional facilities. The RN Educator will lead orientation, advance staff competencies, and promote best nursing practices across the unit.

Responsibilities include coaching, documenting patient information, administering medications, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
• Active CPR certification.
• Remains knowledgeab***out state laws and regulations governing practice.
• Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and exercise good judgment.

• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
• Administer medications to patients and monitor for reactions.
• Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor, record, and report changes in patient conditions.
• Coordinate with healthcare team to assess and plan patient care.
• Modify treatment plans as indicated by patient responses.
• Direct or supervise nursing personnel as assigned.
• Prepare patients for examinations or treatments.
• Instruct individuals and groups on health topics and develop programs.
• Prepare rooms and supplies, ensure stock is maintained.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests.

NURSE EDUCATOR/CHARGE REGISTERED NURSE (RN) POSITION SUMMARY

The Nurse Educator supports and mentors preceptors to effectively orient new staff members. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to meet the educational needs of staff in order to promote quality patient outcomes. Demonstrates advanced clinical and communication skills. A registered Nurse (RN) delivers quality care consistent within the scope of practice as outlined by the local state nurse practice act for Registered Nurses. The RN works in accordance with local practice acts and regulations, and delegates and ensures supervision of nursing activities and functions to other competent nursing personnel appropriate to their scope of practice. The RN assumes responsibility and accountability for the quality of care delivered; works to ensure a safe environment for themselves, the patient, and other staff members. The RN acts as a patient advocate to promote the quality of health care delivered in the facility and serves as a leader at all times to promote best practices within the profession of nursing.

NURSE EDUCATOR/CHARGE REGISTERED NURSE (RN) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment
• Possesses an active CPR certification
• Remains knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice
• Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies to demonstrate aptitude as assigned by role
• Must have the ability to work independently, take initiative, and have good judgment and problem-solving skills.

NURSE EDUCATOR/CHARGE REGISTERED NURSE (RN) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Orients, educates, mentors, and supports nursing staff.
• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
• Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions and side effects.
• Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ condition.
• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
• Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions.
• Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
• Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit.
• Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
• Instruct individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, and childbirth as well as develop health improvement programs.
• Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s condition.
• Additional duties as assigned by facility.

• Full Time
• 7a-3:30p Monday-Friday
