Job summary

Prime Healthcare is hiring an RN for the Telemetry Unit at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. This full-time role runs 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM in the Telemetry Department.

You will assess patients, monitor cardiac rhythms, administer medications, and educate families while coordinating with physicians to ensure safe patient care. A current RN license, BLS, and ACLS are required, with acute care hospital experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license and BLS on hire.
• ACLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.
• Ventilator management experience preferred.
• RN-BC or similar certification preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' conditions, including vital signs and cardiac rhythms, to create care plans.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and vitals using telemetry equipment, including remote monitoring.
• Communicate changes in condition to the physician and document findings.
• Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Provide hands-on care and assist with activities of daily living and wound care.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, medications, and self-care.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate as needed.
• Deliver safe patient care following the nursing process.

Hours: 12 hour – 7:00pm to 7:00am

Location: Harlingen Medical Center - Harlingen, Texas

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall health status, to create individualized care plans
• Monitor patients' cardiac rhythms and vital signs using telemetry equipment, which allows for remote monitoring of patients' heart rates and rhythms
• Communicate with the physician about changes in the patient's clinical condition, including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies, and symptomatology
• Administer medications as prescribed by physicians, including intravenous medications, and monitor patients for any adverse reactions
• Provide hands-on care to patients, including wound care, administering treatments, assisting with activities of daily living, and providing emotional support
• Educate patients and their families about their conditions, medications, and treatments, as well as provide guidance on self-care practices and lifestyle modifications in the Telemetry Unit
• Respond quickly to changes in patient conditions throughout shift and be able to address any concerns to the physician as soon as possible
• Responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation

Qualifications

1. Current and valid state RN License.2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.3. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire. 4. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.5. Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.6. Ventilator Management experience preferred.7. Medical-Surgical Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC) or similar certification; preferred.8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
