Job summary

Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital – Transitional Care Unit (TCU) in Westborough, MA is seeking a Registered Nurse for casual shifts (every other Tuesday and every Wednesday 3p-11p). You will supervise direct resident care, oversee nursing assistants, ensure regulatory compliance, and document physician orders and care.

Candidates must graduate from an accredited RN program, hold an MA RN license, have geriatric nursing knowledge, and current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN program.
• Massachusetts RN license is required.
• Geriatric nursing knowledge is required.
• Current BLS/CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and evaluates all direct resident care and initiates corrective action as necessary.
• Provides clinical supervision of nursing assistants providing direct resident care.
• Assumes responsibility for compliance with federal, state and local regulations within the assigned unit.
• Ensures that all physician renewal orders and physician documentation is timely and appropriate.
• Conducts resident rounds, reporting problems to nursing supervisor and initiating corrective action.
• Identifies resident problems and emergency situations, and initiates immediate life-saving measures within the scope of nursing practice.
• Administers and documents medications, enteral nutrition, and treatments per the physician's order and records all care and observations.

Casual –Every other Tuesday and every Wednesday 3p-11p

PAY RATE $44.00-$47.00 an hour

Primary Responsibilities:

• Supervises and evaluates all direct resident care and initiates corrective action as necessary.
• Provides clinical supervision of nursing assistants providing direct resident care
• Assumes responsibility for compliance with federal, state and local regulations within the assigned unit.
• Ensures that all physician renewal orders and physician documentation is timely and appropriate.
• Conducts resident rounds, reporting problems to nursing supervisor and initiating corrective action.
• Identifies resident problems and emergency situations, and initiates immediate "life saving" measures within the scope of nursing practice and in accordance with advance directives.
• Administers and documents medications, enteral nutrition, and treatments per the physician's order and accurately records all care provided and observations daily.

Prerequisites

• Graduate of an accredited RN school of Nursing.
• Current license in Massachusetts as RN.
• Knowledge of Geriatric Nursing required.
• Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support in accordance with American Heart Association or American Red Cross standards required.
• Experience working in a Skilled Nursing environment a plus
